Our group was just a partnership, containing me and someone else. That someone else was Michelle who was probably one of the best partner I had in a while. She actually helped and discussed what we needed and what to do. She didn't leave me to do all the work and for the most part, I think she did more work than I did. We did great together, but that is my opinion, if you were to ask Michelle she might not agree, but I wouldn't know personally. We didn't do things half and half as we ended up working the most at home one on one. Having two people working on separate things is way better than having two people work on one thing.
I learned about a huge variety of things. Stuff like how cultures around the world eat way differently than all of us and how to cook complicated food simply. Work ethic was definitely put in the solar oven, we no stop discused how to make it work and overcoming obstacles that we didn't know would happen. We had to give up the interlock mechanism on the box as the paint on the wood was too thick so we had to chop it off. Oral communication was through the roof, some periods of the days were just spent talking about why stuff wasn't working and planning in the future. This project gave me plenty of new ways to talk to my friend, we would call, text, and discord message each other about what we need for the project. The solar oven, we don't know if it truly works as we never got a proper day to test it. The recipe could have been better improved as well.
There are always ways to get around situations no matter how bad they are. It may take time and even decades but, getting around something is always possible. It may not prove survival friendly but if completed it will keep your survival. Our recipe was very difficult to create as I did not go to cook with Michelle and her mom, she was gone one day so I had to figure out how to get info for the summary. A lot of texting later and finally got enough information to build an alright summary of her time cooking. My goal was to not take over. When in a group I tend to either do nothing or take over and screw us all up. This project was one of the first where I did a decent job at making sure I didn't fully take over or do nothing. I helped my partner with anything she need help with and suggested my ideas to her. I of course made sure that some of her ideas also got in to the project so it would be a almost 50/50 split.
I had an interesting amount to offer. I built the entirety of the solar oven while my partner built the entirety of the recipe, instructions, and summary of a cooking period she had with her mom. Any changes we wanted to make could not be made. But, we had very little complaints about stuff we wanted change. We were disappointed that we couldn't truly test the solar oven. Overall every thing went the way we wanted and we were glad with the final products. Collaboration in this project was at top compared to other projects I have done. We were very into this project, having meetings about what needed to be changed and trying to get them changed. Talking about issues that recently came up. No problem was not known of. Every time we ran into a problem it was reported to the other immediately allowing for quick repairs.
