As it stands Waluigi has grown to have an incredible popularity in the Nintendo community. If you search up Waluigi on google, the first page of results will have two articles on why he is so popular. He started off as Wario’s partner for Mario Tennis. As the games went on he saw more outings such as the Mario party series, being in everyone except for the first two and Mario party advance. He is a playable character in most spin-off games and has unique voice lines and different ways to play him. He makes cameos in other Mario games as either costumes or powers; Examples of this is Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, in this game there are emblems which you can equip to give you better and unique abilities that change how you play and your play style. There are two emblems that are very special; The ‘L’ Emblem and The ‘W’ Emblem are just two of the emblems you can wear. The ‘L’ Emblem, when equipped, changes Mario’s (The protagonist) clothes to Luigi’s (Mario’s Brother) clothes. When the ‘W’ Emblem is equipped it changes Mario’s clothes to Wario’s (Mario’s Rival) clothing. Here is the best part: If you equip both the ‘L’ Emblem and ‘W’ Emblem at the same time, Mario starts wearing purple clothing which represents Waluigi. The ‘W’ stands for Wa which is how both Wario and Waluigi’s names begin. The ‘L’ stands for Luigi which is at the end of Waluigi’s name. Nintendo cares about Waluigi, either putting him as a character or an easter egg in most spin-off games. They don’t care about him enough to put him in the newest Super Smash Bros as a playable character and that is upsetting for many old players. This comes to the question in mind if he is in so many other games than why isn’t he in the newest smash? He has been in 61 games while there are some characters that have only been in two. One of the newest characters added to Super Smash Bros. is Daisy, who is Princess Peach’s counterpart, has been only in 19 games. Waluigi has been in every game Daisy has been in except for three, two that came out before 2000 (when Mario Party came out), and Super Mario Run, a mobile game. Daisy is an echo fighter for Princess Peach, it is currently unknown if Echo fighters work any differently than the main character as Nintendo has yet to reveal how exactly Echo fighters work. Waluigi is also rumored to be Wario’s older brother. If Wario can be in Super Smash Bros. and Luigi can as well, why can’t Waluigi? He has many unique moves and taunts which are expressed in the Mario party and Mario tennis series. His basic attacks could all revolves around his tennis racket which is what he is well known for. Waluigi throws the fastest fastball in Mario Superstar ball which could be used as his ranged smash attack. He is a charming character, he is one of the tallest characters in the Mario franchise (besides bowser). It is shown that he very athletic being able to stretch and bend to the likes of gymnast and ice skaters. During some specials move in games that he’s in it shows that he has a rose in his mouth, signifying that he caught with his mouth. His Final Smash could be that the opposing character gets bombarded by roses from Waluigi’s fantastic performance in fighting. These are only concepts for what he could be and do in Super Smash Bros. The balancing team could change so much before he becomes a playable character. We sit here with characters such as Snake from Metal Gear Solid and Sonic The Hedgehog in this fantastic game. Characters that aren’t even a part of Nintendo are in Super Smash Bros. Pacman, who is a character from many years ago got his own spot. Waluigi is a unique character and can be argued to be even more unique than Wario. He has his own personality. He is the average person who is too scared to perform, but when he does people all around him are inspired by his actions and words. It is ridiculous that a character so loved by the Nintendo community is being pushed off like they are only a trophy. Waluigi is more than just a trophy. He is the most charming person you will ever meet. Such a main character should be a playable character in this fantastic game. He has met the criteria that other characters had to meet; he has been in more games than most characters on the roster for Super Smash Bros. He may not have his own game, but he is not alone on this system. There are other playable characters on the roster that don’t have a game orbiting them. Characters such as Meta Knight and Princess Zelda sit in the roster with no game of their own, you can’t even control them in the games they are in. They are in because they are heavily loved in the Nintendo franchise. Why Can’t Waluigi get the same love as them? In the near future, there will be a time that Waluigi gets his own game. If Luigi and Wario can both get multiple games created about them, there is reasonable hope that he will get the same treatment. Sadly, he hasn’t been given much love by Nintendo recently. We need to all stand up for Waluigi and convince Nintendo to make him more than an assist trophy. Get the people to design him if you are out of ideas. The people know Waluigi, from everything like what his favorite stuffed animal to his favorite clothes to even what type of deodorant he wears. We have answers to what he is missing for his criteria. If Nintendo is to release a statement explaining why Waluigi cannot be put in Smash, we will give them reasons. Now, let us not get mad at nintendo for making the choices they made. Being wrong can sometimes makes things alright. Nintendo can’t add him in as playable character at this point anyways, it can’t be changed. But in the future, if Nintendo learned from their mistakes, he may be a playable character. If we don’t get him in Smash this game instead of screaming at Nintendo, let us hope that he will be in the next game that is yet to be revealed. Everything is set in stone for if he is going to be in the next game. The questions we are asking are why? Why didn’t they consider adding him as a character? What made Nintendo think that Waluigi was only good enough to be an assist trophy? We need to make our voices heard and let Nintendo know that we don’t appreciate what they did. We need to learn to understand why they did it. Coincidentally, Nintendo has not revealed why Waluigi is not in the newest Smash. WE NEED ANSWERS NINTENDO.
